What are you already good at?
- Since I come from a family of fluent Spanish speakers it's only natural that I'm good at my pronunciation since my parents would always correct me when I was little, whether it was something simple like queso, leche, or perrito.
- Reading in Spanish isn't something that I find difficult because my parents like to take me to places where their menus are only in Spanish or I read book covers in the library. And if somebody was having a conversation with somebody else in Spanish then I'll most likely understand what they are saying. Me, constantly being at family gatherings and having your older relatives talk to your parents in only Spanish began to rub off on me and now I can understand what they are talking about and you start to learn what they mean.
What would you say is the most challenging part of speaking/developing in Spanish?
- I may be good at reading, pronouncing, and understanding many things in Spanish, but when it comes to actually trying to form a conversation on my own then it's different because I'm not as comfortable to talking to others in Spanish. I sometimes speak in Spanish at home but not much. Since we are going to be having a lot of conversations in Spanish outside of class, this is going to be a challenge for me because it's one thing to understand the language and another to speak it.
How do you imagine practicing Spanish outside the classroom to increase your vocabulary AND comfortability?
- With Duolingo, Quizlet, & Dictionaries.
- Going to my family and friends, who are fluent Spanish speakers and are people who I am VERY comfortable with.
